Smart Pickle

Desktop Web App & Website Design

An AI driven restaurant marketing tool gets smarter and works harder the more you use it.

A Quick Overview

Smart Pickle is an AI powered web app that provides a way to integrate multiple marketing efforts in a single platform. The Smart Pickle team reached out in 2019 to begin work on UX improvements and a full web app design refresh. They had an MVP, but knew the app needed additional work and improvements to better streamline the various tools it offers its users.

Web App Redesign

2019 - 2020

The Smart Pickle web app is a browser based tool with 4 core components:

  • Onboarding

  • Dashboards & Reporting

  • Promotion Builder

  • Audience Builder

Our goal was for this complex feature set to feel easy to use and familiar for a demographic of users who may not be the most tech savvy. Through communications with the Smart Pickle team it was established that while the app was functional from an engineering standpoint, it needed a full UX audit and an interface redesign in order for it to be more accessible to its current and future users.

Some key updates that were made:

  • UX audit of the entire app with recommendations for highest impact improvements.

  • Redesign of the onboarding process to make it easier for users to navigate. The primary goal being that after the 9-step onboarding questionnaire, automated campaigns can be run for the business owner without further input.

  • Initial designs for the promotion builder interface that allows users to build their own campaigns.

  • Initial designs for the dashboard and reporting tools.

  • Redesign of the audience builder interface that allows for easier integration of existing audiences.

  • Redesign of the user and business settings interfaces.

Marketing Site Design

2019 - 2020

Smart Pickle needed a marketing site to educate users on the app's feature set, pricing, and to demonstrate how it works. I set out to design a site that focused on the apps core components, making a complex technology easy to understand and designing graphics that walked the user through a visual journey.

On project kickoff, there were very few brand elements to speak of beyond the logo and color scheme. As part of the web design process I also sought to establish the brand's visual language and bring design elements from the app to life in a simplified way on the marketing site.
